KLOS is heartbroken to hear that another incredible musician has passed on the Great Gig in the Sky.
“After a hard battle with cancer,” guitarist John Sykes, best known for Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, passed away at the age of 65 according to a statement on his website.
“He will be remembered by many as a man with exceptional musical talent but for those who didn’t know him personally, he was a thoughtful, kind, and charismatic man whose presence lit up the room,” the statement continued.
Sykes joined Thin Lizzy in 1982 and continued their legacy before joining Whitesnake in 1984. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Sykes split his time between both bands while also embarking upon a solo career.
John will be so missed. KLOS sends out love to Sykes’ family and loved ones.
