Billy Sheehan has played bass for numerous legendary bands and musicians including Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Talas, Mr. Big, and U.F.O. Sheehan joins Matt Pinfield for this episode of New & Approved to discuss memories with these bands along with what he’s currently up to with The Winery Dogs.
Sheehan speaks with Pinfield about his history and the bassists who inspired him. Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, John Entwistle, Chris Squire, and Lemmy were some of his greatest influences. He also talks about how he first started playing with U.F.O along with many of the other bands he has been a part of.
Since 2012, Sheehan has been playing in the hard rock supergroup The Winery Dogs, which he co-founded with Mike Portnoy and Richie Kotzen. Sheehan tells Matt about how the band records their music the old school way; Everybody plays, writes, and works together and figures it all out as they go.
Earlier this year, The Winery Dogs released their third album “III.” You can follow along with Sheehan and the band and check out the album here: http://www.thewinerydogs.com/
