Slim Jim Phantom, legendary drummer of the rockabilly band Stray Cats, joined Matt Pinfield for this episode of New & Approved.
Slim Jim first tells Matt all about how he first developed an interest in music during his childhood. When he found the drums, he became addicted and couldn’t stop practicing. He then talks about how the Stray Cats came together and eventually helped pioneer the neo-rockabilly movement of the 1980s.
Slim Jim Phantom takes us on a journey from how the Stray Cats went from almost homeless trying desperately to break a record deal, to exploding all over the radio and MTV. He also tells us some wild stories involving Dave Edmunds, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, and many more iconic rockstars.
