Welcome back Foo Fighters! The iconic rock band has just announced that they will be performing at the Boston Calling Music Festival on May 26th, the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 28th, and Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 18th. These shows will mark the Foo Fighters’ first concerts of 2023.
This shows will also be the first time the Foos will take the stage together without their late drummer Taylor Hawkins since their two tribute concerts in 2022 that honored Hawkins.
Taylor Hawkins passed away unexpectedly in March 2022 and devastated the music community. Foo fans were uncertain about the future of the band without their beloved drummer. However, the Foo Fighters reassured the world that they would continue giving us music as that is what Taylor would have wanted.
A statement was posted on the Foo Fighters’ social media that read, “As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year that our band has ever known, we are reminded of how thankful we are for the people that we love and cherish most, and for the loved ones who are no longer with us. Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life, and for the past 27 years, our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join a chorus of life together through music. Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.”
While no California dates are the horizon just yet, we are patiently awaiting the Foos’ return to Los Angeles with eager spirits. For now, check out the Foo Fighters performing at Madison Square Garden live in 2021 here:
