Wanda Young, one of the leading ladies of the Motown Sound, has reportedly passed away. She was 78 years old.

Young was the lead singer of the R&B girl group The Marvelettes famous for hit songs Please Mr. Postman and Forever, which would go on to be covered by groups including The Beatles and The Carpenters.

The famous label Motown posted about her passing on Twitter, “We are so saddened by the news of Wanda Young of the Marvelettes passing. What an impact she has had on the world of Classic Motown and the lives of so many. Her legacy will continue to live on.”
