Paul McCartney has decided to take a stand. The beloved Beatle, whose signature is one of the most valuable of any living musician, has announced he will no longer be signing autographs or taking selfies with fans.
What sounds harsh initially seems pretty justified by understanding McCartney’s intentions.
“[It] always struck me as a bit strange,” the legendary musician stated in an interview with Reader’s Digest UK. “‘Here, can I write your name down on the back of this till receipt please?’ Why? We both know who I am.”
McCartney would rather share a genuine interaction with a true fan. “What you’ve usually got is a ropey photo with a poor backdrop and me looking a bit miserable. Let’s chat, let’s exchange stories.”
McCartney wasn’t the first Beatle to come to this decision as his bandmate Ringo Starr has rejected autographs since 2008.
