Tomorrow Los Angeles will honor late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins with an ultimate tribute concert at the KIA Forum. Just a day before the show, Heart member Nancy Wilson has shared a tribute song for Hawkins titled Amigo Amiga.
Apparently, Wilson began writing Amigo Amiga the night of Hawkins’ tragic passing in March. “I heard myself in tears saying ‘too soon, too soon,’ which became a refrain in the song,” Wilson said to Consequence. “I spent quite a few sleepless nights trying to express it all. He was a wonderful friend, and we always had funny pet names for each other like ‘Amigo’ and ‘Amiga’ as well as ‘Luv’ and ‘Dahling.'”
Hawkins and Wilson had worked together in recent years as Hawkins even contributed to Wilson’s 2021 debut solo album You And Me.
“It is such a painful loss, but it also feels like Taylor has galvanized and reenergized rock ‘n’ roll with so many of his musician friends and fans coming together,” Wilson continued. “It’s a new renaissance Taylor, and the Foo family have gifted us all.”
