Eddie Van Halen served as an inspiration to many throughout his life and even after his passing. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are no different from those who credit the virtuoso Van Halen guitarist as a major influence on their music. The band has honored Eddie’s legacy with a new song called Eddie, inspired by the legend and they just released a quick teaser of the upcoming tune.
Although the Chili Peppers stick to their signature sound, the lyrics of Eddie clearly pay tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
In one of the verses, Anthony Kiedis emotionally sings, “Sailing the Sunset Strip, I’m a bit of a king / Granny would take a trip, I’ll be bending the strings / Got hammers in both my hands, such a delicate touch / They say I’m from Amsterdam, does that make me Dutch?”
