Last night Santana was performing at Michigan’s Pine Knob Music Theatre when 74-year-old lead guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed onstage.

About an hour into the show as the band began playing Joy, a recent collaboration with Chris Stapleton, Santana sat down at a riser and seemed to pass out. Medical staff rushed to his aid and the concert ended at that point. Tour manager Paul “Skip” Rickert announced on the stage, “Ladies and gentlemen as you can see have a severe medical emergency,” he said. “Let’s share our prayers… We need it right now… Please send your light and love to this man.”

Fortunately, it has been stated that Carlos is recovering well. One of his representatives announced:

“Rock Legend Carlos Santana was over-taken by heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday (July 5) evening in Michigan. The guitar great was taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan. Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well, it was announced by Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis tonight.”

Carlos himself also posted on Facebook, “Cindy and I, we are good. Just taking it easy. Forgot to eat and drink water, so I dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all.”

Tomorrow’s scheduled Santana concert at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, PA is being postponed, but the rest of the tour with Earth, Wind & Fire is set to continue through August. KLOS sends all of our wishes for a speedy recovery!
