Happy birthday to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl! Today we celebrate the man who has kept rock alive from the ’90s until now through Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and multiple other projects. Here are some fun facts you may not have known about today’s birthday boy.

1. The first song he wrote was about his dog BeeGee.
2. He was inspired by Rush to become a drummer.
3. He put out his first record when he was 16 as the drummer of Mission Impossible
4. In the early ’90s, Dave was in a short-lived band called Allister Lobb with his big sister Lisa.
5. Dave wrote The Foo Fighters’ first single on his honeymoon.
6. He was once stalked by a woman who threatened to kill him.
7. He has performed inside of The White House.
8. When he met his current wife Jordyn Blum, he handed her a note that said “You’re my future ex-wife”
9. He wakes up at 5AM every day.
