Today Peter Criss, original drummer and co-founder of rock band KISS, turns 76 years old.
Criss joined KISS in 1972 shortly after his former band Lips broke up. Not wanting to give up his career in music, he wrote an ad in Rolling Stone Magazine that read, “EXPD. ROCK & roll drummer looking for orig. grp. doing soft & hard music. Peter, Brooklyn.” The advertisement caught the eyes of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons who were looking for a drummer for a new band they were forming. Soon, Criss and Ace Frehley joined and formed what would be known as KISS.
