On Halloween morning, a small fire broke out at the home of rock musician Bob Seger. Fortunately, Seger and his wife Juanita were able to exit their Orchard Lake, Mich house completely safe and uninjured.
According to The Detroit News, the fire alarm started going off around 6AM on Sunday morning with smoke seeming to come from an electrical outlet. They also reported:
Firefighters had to break through some walls and ceilings in the home on Upper Straits Lake to douse the flames in the metal flue, Goff said. There was water damage in the family room and, to tweak a Seger lyric, there was also water down below, in a room devoted to a golf simulator.
The firefighters were able to contain the fire to the chimney flue in the family room and prevented any substantial damage from occurring to the house. Fire marshal on the scene Byron Turnquist stated, “Now the task ahead of us is trying to determine, if we can, what caused the fire.”
He also added a reminder for homeowners to periodically change the batteries in their smoke detectors. “Smoke alarms older than 10 years need to be replaced. At that point, they tend to be less sensitive. People think they have a smoke alarm when they really don’t.
