Tool’s Danny Carey and Styx’s Lawrence Gowan were among the artists who paid tribute to the late Neil Peart after news of his passing.
During a Tool concert, Carey started his solo piece “Chocolate Chip Trip” with a photo of him and Peart displayed behind his drum kit. The band also honored Peart by performing part of Rush’s “A Passage to Bangkok” and featuring “2112” as their walk-out music.
Meanwhile, Styx’s Lawrence Gowan sang part of Rush’s “Limelight” at their concert in Arizona. After performing the song, Gowan added, “Thank you to one of the greatest drummers and certainly one of the all-time greatest lyricists, Neil Peart.”
The Rush drummer passed away on Tuesday, January 7 after a quiet three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain tumor. The news was announced on Friday, January 10.
RIP, Neil Peart.
