Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler claimed he was improving in his battle with substance abuse before he was fired in 1990.
The drummer recently told Iowa’s Lazer 103.3 that he could’ve worked on his issues rather than being kicked out of Guns N’ Roses.
“I could have got myself better, which I was doing before they [fired me],” Adler explained. “I could have got better or went over the edge. There’s two ways to go — up or down — and I went way down. It was heartbreaking. It was just too much. Overwhelming anxiety and depression, being thrown out like that…”
However, Adler also added that he was grateful for the good times he had while being in the band.
