Metallica are teasing a mysterious announcement with the launch of a new website, MetallicaXX.com.

The band’s official Facebook page posted the link with no other explanation. The website page shows a countdown clock that will reach zero this Thursday, October 10th.

Fans speculated that the “XX” was referring to the 20-year anniversary of their orchestral live album S&M. The zero date is the day after their new S&M2 concert movie premieres in theaters. It was shot last month with the San Francisco Symphony, who performed a selection of tracks with the band.
