Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” music video has been viewed one billion times on YouTube.
Considering how new YouTube is in comparison to the 1975 hit, Queen’s video is the only one made before the ’90s to have reached this many views. Their biopic under the same name undoubtedly gave the music video a well-deserved boost, as the clip had around 666 million times before the film was released to critical acclaim.
Queen acknowledged the honor on their website, saying the music video was “generally recognized as the first-ever promotional music video, kick-starting and setting the gold-standard for the genre for decades to come. Today it continues to inspire and entertain millions of fans around the world, more than forty years after it was first created.”
